POLICED ALARM SYSTEMS
According to West Midlands police, potential intruders will actively look for visual signs of a security system when selecting their next target to burgle. If they spot an alarm, it often deters them.
At Countrywide Security, we aim to not only deter intruders from breaking into your property but also to stop intruders by apprehending them if they pose a threat. We install monitored burglar alarm systems that guarantee your home or business will be looked after 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Every time an alarm is triggered, we respond and investigate.
All our alarms are approved by the SSAIB, the leading certification body for security system providers in the UK. Contact us to find out more about the alarm systems we offer; from the traditional wired alarm to our sophisticated hybrid systems, we’ll find a solution for you.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a burglar alarm cost?
We can install an fully installed Intruder Alarm from £480.00. It’s hard to give an exact estimate without know more details like property size, number of entrances etc. To get an accurate quote, give us a call on 0121 386 2639.
Are burglar alarms effective?
Yes, burglar alarms are effective. Thieves tend to avoid difficult break-ins that raises attention. As most thieves are opportunists, a burglar alarm with a CCTV system is one of the best ways to deter them. But don’t be tempted to install a dummy system as burglars are very good at identifying fake boxes. They’ll single you out as an easy target.
How do burglar alarms work?
We install sensors around your house. When the alarm is set and active, if those sensors detect movement, it triggers the alarms, so you and the rest of your street are alerted. We often put sensors near areas where burglars are more likely to enter the home, such as windows, the back door etc.

Can burglars disable alarms?
Burglars have methods to disable alarms, especially cheap ones. But, we’re always one step ahead of them, offering a variety of solutions to prevent any planned intruder. Alarms that don’t rely on phone lines and offer backup batteries with CCTV systems are a great start. Smart Alarms offer a full package with maximum security.
Does a burglar alarm reduce insurance?
It’s difficult to say with so many factors considered. And it can vary between insurance providers. However, having a burglar alarm reduces your risk of getting burgled and affecting your no-claims period. The longer you go without a claim, the cheaper your premiums are (generally). So, it’s a win-win if you get a burglar alarm – you feel safe, and your premiums should go down.
How often should burglar alarms be serviced?
As Checkatrade advises, you should get a professional to service your alarm system at least once a year. Every six months, it’s worth testing your system as burglars can tell when one is working properly. If you alarm ever starts playing it up, book a service right away. We can take a look and reduce any repair costs in the long run.
Is the landlord responsible for burglar alarm?
If a landlord installs a burglar alarm, they are responsible for maintaining it. This is often the reason why landlords are reluctant to invest in security systems and why privately rented accommodation is burgled more than others. That’s why we offer you regular maintenance and repair packages, so your tenants are safe, and landlords don’t have to be burdened.
Why does my burglar alarm keep false alarming?
The most common reason for false alarms is due to the Back Up Battery. (This is located inside your Main Control Panel)
If you allow your Back Up Battery to run low this will affect the reliability of your Alarm causing no end of problems including false alarms.
The life expectancy of a Back Up Battery is 5 Years, you MUST replace it if it is older than this!
Another reason for false alarms is a badly maintained system, we would recommend having your alarm serviced every 12 months, this will help identify potential problems in the future and check that all your devices will operate correctly in the event of a break-in!
How long will my burglar alarm last for?
This really does depend on a number of factors? We have comprised a list of important factors when choosing a Burglar Alarm System:
Make and Model/Grade of System. (Ask us for advice on what make and Grade of Systems are the most reliable)
Installation. (You may have chosen a good make, however, the Company/Person who fits your Alarm is just as important. i.e. check that they are approved with SSAIB or NSI Gold!)
Service and Maintenance (Get your alarm serviced every 12 months, this will help identify potential problems in the future and check that all your devices will operate correctly in the event of a break-in!)
Summary: Choose a quality make, an approved company/person to install it and get it serviced annually, then your burglar alarm should last you 20+ years!
What type of burglar alarm systems are out there?
We have listed the different types of Burglar Alarm Systems below:
Wired System: A traditional wired Burglar Alarm System consists of cables running to each individual device including Movement Detectors, Door Contacts, Bells, Keypads etc.
Wireless Systems: Wireless Systems are now more popular for Homes than a traditional wired system, this is because the latest wireless technology has come on leaps and bounds over the last few years, becoming extremely reliable and most now meet current British & European Standards for Alarms, they are also cosmetically pleasing to the eye, no longer a need to lift your carpets and floorboards as every device is completely wireless and are powered by high lithium batteries which last 3-4years.
Outhouses, Sheds etc are now a lot easier to protect with a Wireless System. However, Wireless Alarms are not suitable in large, commercial type properties as there are limitations on signal strengths and potential interferences!
You can now choose from:
Traditional Bells Only (Internal & External Bells will ring upon an activation)
Speech Dialler System (As above but will call you in the event of an activation)
Smart System (As above but will also send you notifications to an App downloaded onto your Smart Phone. You can also have complete control over your Alarm by setting, un-setting, checking events, switching on your Security Lights manually or automatically when your alarm activates and much much more all from your Smart Phone!)
24hr Professional Monitoring (A 24hr Monitoring Centre will be monitoring your Burglar Alarm 24hrs a day 7 days a week. They will immediately call you when they receive a signal from your Alarm System)
Police Response Systems (As above but with the added comfort that the Police will automatically be called on confirmed and hold up activations)
What are burglar alarms?
Burglar alarms are alarm systems that trigger in the event of a home invasion or break-in.
The system consists of a series of electrical components that are connected to your property. Via sensors and contacts, they detect movement or the opening of doors and windows, triggering a loud alarm to alert those nearby of the unauthorised entry.
How to set burglar alarm at night?
Each model will have its own set of instructions, however, the concept is pretty much the same.
1. Check every door and window is locked.
2. Type the security code into your alarm.
3. Press the “Activate” button and return to your bedroom whilst the alarm enables.
You can set certain rooms to be deactivated (such as the bedroom or bathroom) when you activate your night routine. This prevents false alarms whilst maintaining maximum security.
